Presentation of the Multimedia University Study Program

Why did we prepare the Multimedia study program?

Mainly because computers and computer programs, smartphones and the Internet have become so widespread that they are everywhere and are practically self-evident companions in our lives. Therefore, it is not enough that we electrical engineers and computer scientists are merely experts in technology design, computer development, internet and telephone connections. It is also important that in addition to technological knowledge (e.g. how to program a smartphone application that displays sensory data about the user’s health) we try to master creative techniques and knowledge for creating content, different forms (e.g. video production, animated characters, virtual 3D environments, etc.) and experiences (e.g. interactive catalogs or video games).

We perform more and more of our daily tasks via the Internet and mobile devices, from monitoring news and events, making purchasing decisions, choosing a destination for a trip and entertainment. There are countless new digital devices that make it possible to combine the real environment with the virtual one. New ways of human coexistence with technology therefore require and demand knowledge to build good user interfaces. Internet and digital content is being rapidly integrated into many new areas, cars and home appliances, medicine, education, the arts, etc. And for all these reasons, we have prepared the Multimedia university study program, which educates professionals trained to work on these new and innovative challenges.

Who needs multimedia engineers?

The best and most innovative companies (for example Google, Apple, Telekom Slovenije, Outfit 7, RTV Slovenia, Celtra, Tesla, Facebook, BMW and also most successful startups) and other organizations such as universities, libraries, healthcare institutions, marketing agencies, media houses, etc. Many companies also sponsor Multimedia studies, as they need these future employees for their continued successful operation.

What is the demand for multimedia engineers on the job market?

The European Commission estimates that there are 825,000 vacancies in Europe in the field of information and communication technologies (ICT), which is one of the most important industries in the world. The field of digital content is also supporting all other industries. It is therefore important to give young people the skills to work in the digital technology sector or to test themselves as entrepreneurs in the European or even global market.

What kind of students are we looking for?

All curious young people who have a creative streak or imaginative ideas and want to gain technological knowledge with which you can realize your ideas in 3D-digital life.

Why should you enroll?

Become extremely competitive graduates of the latest program from the University of Ljubljana, which combines some of the best features of electrical engineering, computer science, creativity, business skills and communication. This knowledge will enable you to reach for and fill in one of the 900,000 job vacancies in Europe and compete for work at the most successful and innovative companies at home and around the world. In addition, the knowledge acquired in the Multimedia university study program is an excellent springboard for further studies and research work at home and abroad. Above all, you will master everything you might need to bring your talent and imagination to life in the digital world.

What are we going to study and create?

  • Learning the technological highlights of the engineering profession.
  • Conquering the latest technologies and work with the latest equipment.
  • Offering you space for your imagination to develop in the digital environment.
  • Discovering the best ways to explore and lead a team.
  • Listening to experts with practical field experience and work together to address current challenges in companies.
  • Cultivating self-confidence in the profession and communication with other publics.
  • Preparing to work in the best companies at home and in the world.
