22. 11. 2022 | Izpostavljeno, Projects

Technologies of extended reality (XR) are appearing more and more often in various fields and are used both in industry, in the field of entertainment, as well as in education. As part of the European ThinkXR project, experts from the Multimedia Laboratory of the Faculty of Electrical Engineering (LMMFE) are working in the field of development and use of XR technologies, user experience and methods of transmitting XR multimedia content. The mentioned areas also represent a large part of the research area of LMMFE.

As part of the ThinkXR project, a consultation was held at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering on November 22th, 2022, in which representatives of companies, political decision-makers and partner institutions participated. In the introduction, the content, history, development and state of XR technologies were briefly presented, as well as ways and suggestions for their adoption. This was followed by a discussion and a presentation of the views of the mentioned technologies by the participating representatives, who followed the presentations with enthusiasm and, among other things, presented some concerns in the discussion. The meeting took place in a relaxed atmosphere, and the participants exchanged additional opinions and suggestions in their free time.

The students of the Multimedia program, in cooperation with LMMFE, provided technical support in the conference hall and ensured transmission on Zoom for all those who attended the conference remotely. Filming and photography for promotional purposes was also provided as part of the event.

The project is co-financed by the Norwegian Financial Mechanism and the Financial Mechanism of the European Economic Area (EEA Financial Mechanism), which are unique instruments and the basis of cooperation between Slovenia and the donor countries Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. The main goals of the financial mechanisms are to reduce economic and social differences in the European Economic Area (EEA) and to strengthen bilateral relations between donor countries and beneficiary countries, Slovenia being one of them.
